· Wednesday View &Brew – The Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI, on Wednesdays
A movie AND beer? For $2? That’s what you get at the Magic Bag on Wednesday nights. Go with your BF, your BFF or roll solo for an evening of mixing and mingling.
· Misdemeanors to Masterpieces Art Show – Long-Sharp/Curis Modern + Contemporary Fine Art in Downtown, Detroit. Through June.
CRASH is an absolute pioneer of the graffiti art movement, and his work has finally come to Detroit with the show, “Misdemeanors to Masterpieces”. Enjoy amazing pop art and then grab a drink at one of Detroit’s amazing downtown bars.
· Kustom Karaoke – Shotz at Greektown, on Thursday
There’s nothing sexier than confidence, and karaoke is a great way to show it off. Admission is free, song selection is great, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Finish the night off with a short walk to Greektown Casino for free soft drinks and coffee.
· Casino Night – Any Casino
Show your date you can live on the edge, by betting a dollar or two on the slots. Take your winnings and hit the bar afterward. If you lose, head to the soft drink station for the gratis consolatory beverages.
· Sample Tasting – Small markets, Whole Foods, Tader Joes, etc.
Free samples are better that everything! Take your date to your local farmer’s market, or organic foods store, and try out the new snacks. You’ll be surprised how quickly you fill up.
· Be A Kid Again – Any park
The couple that plays together stays together. Head to your local park for a play date! Work up a sweat on the jungle gym, then cool down with a tasty treat from the ice cream truck!
· Just Try It On – The Thrift Store
Head over to your local thrift store and choose crazy outfits for each to try on. Make a funky photo album of all your wild looks. And the best part …If you do find something you love, it’ll only cost a couple bucks to own.
· Improv Night – Planet Ant Theater in Detroit, MI on Mondays (Thru June 1)
Have a feel good date at improv. Share some laughs and show your daring side by participating in the show. The price tag for this event is just $5.
· The Moth @Cliff Bells – Cliff Bells in Downtown Detroit , every 1st Thursday
Enjoy and evening laughs and gasps at The Moth Stories. Members of the audience tell stories, and you can join in by telling a story of your own. If you’re feeling a little shy, play along by with Live-Action Anonymous Tweeting (i.e. writing your story on a piece of paper and having someone else read it). Entry is only $5.
· The Foundation: Celebrating Women in Hip Hop – The Old Miami in Midtown, on Tuesdays.
Acclaimed photographer, and activist, Piper Carter, encourages the community to get back to its hip hop roots with this weekly event. Live performances from local artist, coupled with dancing and great drink specials, make for an amazing evening.
· 15th Annual WABiversary – The Woodward Avenue Brewery in Ferndale, MI. MAY 24TH!
The WAB celebrates 15 years in business with a huge shindig featuring the unveiling of two new beers, $1 WAB beers all day long, a display of employee art, a free taco bar and more.
· Art In the Park – The 1918 Rotary Club in Windsor, Ontario, CA. June 1 –June 3.
The festival that combines the freedom of art, with the frivolity of parks. Enjoy food, games, music and the art of over 275 vendors. Entry is $5.
